Sea Monkey is approximately 13 1/2 inches and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds. That's about the same weight as a rutabaga, which is an exceedingly fun word to say. Rutabaga. Ruuuuuutabaga.
S/he is also starting to put on fat (the good kind) now; the weight went up 6-8 ounces or so this week, from just over a pound last week to 1 1/2 pounds now.... Sea Monkey is also sprouting hair. There's an old wives' tale that says the more heartburn you have during pregnancy, the more hair baby has. And if that holds true, I think we're going to be dealing with a tiny Chewbacca.
A lot of the updates talk about women experiencing Braxton-Hicks contractions around now. I am currently entirely inexperienced with those. And I don't really mind. I'd like to continue with this very peaceful pregnancy as long as possible, thank you very much. BH contractions can start at term. The end. (You know... I'm awfully demanding for such a [typically] reserved person)
I am just a couple weeks away from the third trimester, which starts in some fuzzy time between 27 and 28 weeks. And that's just 2 or 3 weeks from now. Whoah. I'm very happy that this whole pregnancy is speeding by; after miscarrying last year, I was fairly positive that if I ever got pregnant, it would just drag by and I'd be in a constant state of panic, worrying that we would lose the baby at any minute. And while I still have that fear, I have my little Ninja practicing flips and playing on my bladder to reassure me, and the weeks and months are just speeding by. For now, I'm ok with that. Once s/he is here, though, I'm demanding that time slows back down.
For the most part, I'm feeling really well. I have really awful heartburn sometimes, and my back usually starts to ache by the end of the day, especially if I've been busy cleaning, or if cooking dinner was a particularly involved process. Sometimes I have this weird uncomfortable feeling in my ribs when I'm on the couch (I think things are stretching to make room for baby), and I have to experiment with pillows and blankets and reposition myself to get things just right to feel comfortable. I think I must look funny when it happens. It sort of looks like this really awkward, glitchy dance with no purpose or sense of effective movement.
Also, I have a fairly constant craving for a chocolate shake and french fries. I would eat it all the time if I could. I would be massive, but it would be delicious and sooooo worth it.

I had such HORRIBLE heartburn from about 23 weeks till the day I gave birth. And Mason has very little hair. So the wives tale didn't work on us.

And good luck getting time to slow down...in my experience, it has gotten faster! I haven't seen you in over a year now ( :(3 ) and Remy is five months old. By the time I see you again, he will be six months old. That is 1/2 a year! BAH!!
